Building on the success of their Clarity Vx noise reduction plug-in, Waves have just released Clarity Vx DeReverb and Clarity Vx DeReverb Pro. Powered by a Neural Network, the plug-ins are able to reduce and remove reverb from both dialogue and sung vocals.
With the same intuitive operation of the first Clarity, DeReverb Pro works instantly with the big knob, but also allows precise and flexible control over the processing across the frequency spectrum. Six continuous bands give you the ability to smoothly shape and contour the reverb depending on the source material and production.
Waves Clarity Vx DeReverb Pro includes a limiter which can be applied at the end of the signal chain to prevent from clipping artifacts when needed. The standard version of Clarity Vx DeReverb uses the same Neural Network engine but without the advanced features. As you’d expect, both versions work in real time, are automatable, and do not require file bouncing or outside clients to send or receive files.
Several different Neural Networks are available including a noise reduction option so you can reduce both the reverb and general background noise simultaneously if required. There’s also a presence control which can be dialled in to enhance high frequencies and further enhance clarity.
The Analysis/Width setting found in the stereo version of the plug-ins lets you select the analysis method that is best suited to the type of content you’re working on. Analysis can be set to either Single or Double. In Double modes, the left and right channels are analysed independently to create a unique set of weights and biases for each channel. This can be useful is there’s a notable difference between the left and right sides of your stereo audio. The Single setting uses a single analysis for both channels. Width options include Mono and Stereo and dictate whether the output of the plug-in remains in stereo or is summed to mono.
