In this video for Pro Tools Expert James shows the Active Snare Damping System by Remo. This small mechanical clip on dampener allows you to control those unwanted high frequencies on a tuned snare drum yet still allowing the drum to breath and sound natural. James tries it on a 14" maple snare by SJC. The Sure SM57 mic used to record the drum is not being processed with EQ or Dynamics. What  you are hearing is where we hear in the room.
