Review - A First Look At The Intel Nuc With The Universal Audio Apollo Twin

In this video for Pro Tools Expert, Technical Editor James Ivey teams up with Richard Rogers from Workstation Pros to take a look at the new ultra micro Intel Nuc PC running Windows 10.

The Nuc is a micro-sized (about the same size and shape as a VHS cassette for those who can remember them) i7 processor based machine running Windows 10, but what it lacks in stature it makes up for in specification, expandability, and connectivity.

Rich has configured this one with 32GB of DDR4 RAM and two 512GB Flash storage modules, however, new Flash storage modules are becoming available all the time. It is possible now to configure a Nuc to have two 2TB flash storage modules allowing up to 6Gbit/s of data transfer, which should be enough for even the most demanding music or post production.

This is an introduction to the Nuc concept running a 70 track session via the Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt audio interface with the approved converter to Thunderbolt 3. James and Rich plan to do a more in-depth test of the Nuc very soon.
