In this video review for Production Expert,  Eli Krantzburg takes a look at the new ML8000 Advanced Limiter by McDSP.  Eli shows us around the user interface, which will feel familiar to any users of the McDSP ML4000 and then, using a musical example, shows us how to get the best out of the ML8000 and its new features.

Building on technology developed for the ML4000 limiter, the ML8000 now offerers 8 bands of active processing to greatly improve phase accuracy. Each of the 8 limiter bands have their own gain and output controls as well as controls for knee and release time.  

There are also limiter modes which were available in the ML4000 but the ML8000 adds a Focus control enabling you to work faster when setting up the threshold settings. The signal then moves onto the Master Limiter section which is taken from the ML4000 with filter upgrades to reduce peak distortion.
