In this video, Pro Tools Expert Technical Editor James Ivey takes a look at the new Warm Audio WA-87 large diaphragm condenser microphone.  

The WA-87 has been developed to take the body of its tone from those classic and vintage German "87" microphones but add some of the characteristics that we love from more modern mics like a nice shiny top end and warm yet tight lows.

James puts the WA-87 to work on drum overheads first letting you hear just the overhead sound then adding the rest of a very limited set of drums mics (SM57 on Snare Top, Sontronics BM-1B on Kick Drum and a Shure KSM-137 on Hat). Next he lets you hear just the close microphone on the guitar cabinet, before bringing in the full mix of the track. 

This track used no dynamic processing or EQ. What you are hearing is a great mic and a good recording chain.
