Review - UVI BeatBox Anthology 2 Electronic Drum Library Instrument

In this video review, Pro Tools Expert Deputy Editor Dan Cooper takes a look at UVI's new electronic drum library instrument BeatBox Anthology 2. Watch the video to hear two instances of BeatBox Anthology 2 in a short example mix.

Beatbox Anothology 2 is a major update from the previous version offering users a wealth of new and useful features such as:

  • Improved GUI similar to UVI Synth Anthology 2

  • Extra Kits

  • Sample layering and tone generator

  • Built-in beat sequencer

Visit the UVI website for a full list of features and upgrade/purchase costs.

Beatbox Anthology 2 features over 11,000 drum samples across 111 kits demanding a reasonable 3GB of sample hard drive space (2GB download)

We have awarded UVI BeatBox Anthology 2 a Pro Tools Expert Editor's Choice award as we feel this package delivers a great deal of electronic drum production variety. The GUI has clearly taken some inspiration from UVI's over anthology product, that being Synth Anthology 2 - and we liked that a lot as well.

The BeatBox Anthology 2 GUI throws away the drum machine history books meaning users don't have to be vintage drum machine aficionados in order to get great sounding electronic drums in their mixes.

Post Review Update - Regarding MIDI Export To Timeline

In the video review, we fail to demonstrate the Export MIDI from BeatBox Anthology 2 to the Pro Tools timeline. We believed this was because of a small bug either within Pro Tools or the free UVI Workstation. UVI have been in touch and informed us this feature does work and that the UVI workstation version we used for the review needed updating to v2.6.11. We have tested this with v2.6.11 of UVI workstation and can confirm that the MIDI Export feature works flawlessly in Pro Tools.
