In this free 4 part tutorial series, brought to you with the kind support of Waves, we show you how you can tackle a live band mix quickly using Waves Scheps Omni Channel plug-in. Watch to see and hear how this channel strip differs from more traditional console emulations and generic modular based channel strips. Scheps Omni’s secret sauce is found in both its flexibility and sonic performance which harness some of the best bits of working with analog gear and digital workflows.
In this series we provide an overview of the GUI as well as show Scheps Omni in action mixing live drums, guitars and vocals.
Episode 1: Scheps Omni Channel UI Overview
In this episode we give you a quick guided tour of Scheps Omni Channel giving insight into each of its modules:
Pre: Three types of analog saturation are on offer for dialling in a wide range of harmonic distortion colours. This section also includes low/high filters and a useful thump control.
Compression: Three styles of compression making Omni a versatile mixing weapon. Styles include smooth sounding Opto, VCA and fast acting FET. Not sure which style of compression sounds best? Users can compare between each thanks to Omni’s unified control set
EQ: 4-band EQ that can be switched to fully parametric for surgical EQ tasks.
DS2: A dual de-esser with four filter types for de-harshing the most stubborn of sibilance
Gate: Provides all the standard controls you find in all gate/expanders.
Extra insert slot: Load an additional Waves plug-in anywhere in the Omni chain, which could be extra instance of any Scheps Omni Channel modules.
